Rockets fans sound off on the upcoming season
The state of the University of Toledo football program is … overwhelmingly positive.
That’s not an opinion. It’s coming straight from the UT fan base.
The Blade conducted its third annual fan survey, and the results tell a story of a cheerful yet unsatisfied group of supporters. Last year didn’t produce a third consecutive trip to the Mid-American Conference championship game, but the Rockets did upset Mississippi State and Pittsburgh to cap an uneven eight-win season.
After mining the transfer portal and keeping its best players off college football’s waiver wire, the expectations for 2025 are through the roof. Toledo is the MAC favorite and a CFP dark horse. If UT wins 10 games (and beats arch rival Bowling Green), next year’s survey will again yield positive results. But failing to live up to expectations, even if they feel unrealistic or unfair.
Perception is reality in college football.

With nearly 50 percent of respondents having a positive view of the state of the program, their one-word descriptions, as expected, were mostly favorable, with “exciting” and “amazing” being the most popular replies. A few negative descriptions did filter in.

It comes as no surprise that the wins over Mississippi State and Pitt were the highlights of last season. But fans took note of other achievements and lauded the team for moving forward despite a rash of injuries.
